Why are you nominating this candidate?
The Austrian Section of Les Clefs d´Or International would like to nominate our young member Lukas Fürst for the 2017 edition of the Les Clefs d´Or-Award. Austria has a long history of educating and training our youngsters, colleagues to be and future managers, as you can see from our well renowned cooperation with the tourism school in Bad Gleichenberg and Semmering. Because of our objective to help young personalities to live up to our standards, motivate them and train them, it feels like an obligation for us to have one of our “stars” participate in this truly outstanding award. It is amazing how the APA developed into the Les Clefs d´Or award since it was first introduced during the International congress in Copenhagen in 2008. Although we did not have a participant every year since our first candidate, we were monitoring and closely following the progress of the award and its growing standards and requirements for its participants.
Lukas joined our association in 2014. He is working as chief concierge at the Park Hyatt Vienna. From the start of his career at the Palais Coburg he showed great interest in Les Clefs d´Or and with the motivation of joining this fine association one day, he worked hard every day and tried to excel the requirements by his guests as well as his employer. He was closely tutored by our International honorary member & past president Helmut Schöffl during that time. Although he was not a member by then, he took very keen interest in our association and made sure to be part of social meetings and workshops whenever possible. After some years he finally approached us to question where he needs to improve and what to do in order to apply for a full membership in our association. One thing he made very clear when he applied, was that he did not only want to be a member, but a very active part in our section to help us grow stronger and improve our overall service to our guests and serve the reputation of the Golden Keys. During our recent National congress in January he was a big support to our organizing team and proved again that he is the right person to represent our section in Berlin.
Describe the process you used to select your candidate:
With pride and after careful consideration we put in a selection process which included a written application together with a letter of motivation and a small exam, made out of questions from the last APA exams. During our National congress he underwent personal interviews with several of our board members to verify his motivation and to have a closer look at his skills to represent our section. Luckily, since Austria is rather small, it was possible to have his progress as a concierge and as a person monitored by at least one member of our board from his first steps as a concierge to now. After careful consideration of every aspect we discussed the application within our board and we are very pleased to announce that Lukas Fürst from the Park Hyatt is our candidate and he will have our fullest support throughout the whole award.
